Mark Matthews
Founding Partner
Mark Matthews is the founder and managing partner of the Argent Group, LLC. Mr. Matthews formed the Argent Real Estate Development Corp. in 1985 and was largely responsible and widely recognized for his contribution to the successful redevelopment of the North and Clybourn industrial corridor into one of the most recognized shopping districts in Chicago. Mr. Mathews has individually planned, developed, constructed and marketed over $200 million in commercial real estate development transactions throughout his thirty-year career. Beside his duties as managing partner, Mr. Matthews also oversees acquisitions and marketing for the Argent Group.
Carl Groesbeck
Founding Partner
Carl Groesbeck has more than 35 years of professional experience in the development management, finance and construction of world-class trophy real estate. Following a successful career as an architect, Mr. Groesbeck successfully managed the development, design and construction of over $2 billion of residential and commercial projects in the U.S. and abroad. His expertise and experience includes large multi-project infrastructure development, high-rise development, landmark restoration and rehabilitation projects, waterfront resort and hotel development, and retail development. Mr. Groesbeck most recently directed the development of the Museum Park lakefront residential campus, including 14 high-rises and over 2,500 residential units in the 80-acre Central Station planned development in Chicago’s South Loop. Mr. Groesbeck is the partner in charge of planning, design and construction for the Argent Group.
Gary Wendt
Development Director
Gary Wendt is a seasoned executive with more than 35 years of professional experience in architecture and real estate development management. Prior to joining the Argent Group, Mr. Wendt handled executive management assignments for the planning and development of large-scale developments in the United Arab Emirates and the Caribbean. Mr. Wendt ended his 28-year career as an architect, as the CEO of OWP&P, a prominent Chicago-based architectural and engineering firm in the United States to focus on real estate development. Mr. Wendt is the Development Director for the Argent Group.
